RISE UP Mentorship

Trey’s Legacy Education Fund was established to support students through meaningful scholarship opportunities that foster education, growth, and long-term success. The fund reflects a commitment to investing in the next generation by recognizing students not only for academic achievement but also for their resilience, creativity, and determination to move forward. Each scholarship offers an opportunity to remove barriers and open doors for students as they pursue their educational and career goals. In 2026, the fund awarded seven (7) scholarships to deserving students. Porter Scholarship Sponsored by Delores Favorite and Dr. Theresa Porter These scholarships represent more than financial support. They are an investment in students who have demonstrated potential and a desire to succeed. Through Trey’s Legacy Education Fund, students are not only supported in their educational journey but are also connected to a broader network of mentorship and guidance designed to help them navigate the next stage of their lives with confidence.

THE PROGRAM

Each student is paired with a primary mentor.
A backup mentor/alternate may also be available
Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and accountability
The Support Village serves as a resource to mentors when a need arises
Support Village names are not shared unless needed; support may be anonymous
Students do not directly request support from the Support Village

THE "VILLAGE"

Initial support is coordinated through the mentor. If a Support Village member and a student later develop an independent goods-or-services relationship, that relationship becomes separate from the program, and that person no longer serves in a volunteer role for that student.

Key Principles

Participation is voluntary
Mentors are the primary point of contact
Support is structured, not open-ended
Privacy and discretion are expected
Focus includes mentorship, mental wellness, and financial wellness

Communication

Communication will take place electronically, with program oversight as needed.

The goal of the program is to provide meaningful support while maintaining healthy boundaries for everyone involved. Mentorship is intended to create a structured and positive experience that helps students move forward with guidance, encouragement, and access to resources.

The Support from the Village

The Support Village is a network of individuals available to help mentors address specific student needs.

These individuals offer practical, real-world assistance that helps students navigate academic, professional, and personal growth opportunities.

Support is provided as needed and coordinated through the mentor.

Support Village members may assist in areas such as:

Academic Support
(Tutoring for school and college courses, study skills)
College & Career Readiness
(Applications, resumes, interviews, career guidance)
Financial Wellness
(FAFSA guidance, budgeting basics, financial literacy)
Mental Health & Wellness
(Support, resources, behavioral health guidance)
Professional Presentation
(Attire, grooming, etiquette, confidence)
Career Exposure & Opportunities
(Job shadowing, internships, job leads)

How Support Is Provided

Support Village members are contacted by the mentor when a specific need arises
Students do not directly request services from the Support Village
Support Village names are not shared unless and until a need arises
In some cases, support may be provided anonymously

Support Village Visibility

Some Support Village members may choose to publicly support or promote their involvement as part of their business or community outreach. This is permitted.
